My Vintage V300
Today I practised a few chord changes utilising the cluster and shared finger principles and played the one piece of (dare I call it music) that I’ve managed to sort of play so far, but first I want to talk a little bit about my guitar.
It’s a Vintage V300 made by John Hornby Skewes and Company. For under £500 you are not going to find much to compete with it, except perhaps another Vintage guitar! The thing I like most about it is the playability of the neck. It has a medium to low action. which means you are not going to struggle to press down on the strings (a problem for us rookies). The next guitar I buy is probably going to be an electro acoustic Vintage, but in Sunburst (I like my Sunburst). In terms of sound, I thing it compares well with a lot of more costly guitars I’ve laid my hands on, but I am by no means an expert and the “sound” of a guitar is very subjective, not to mention the fact that a good guitarist can make any piece of wood with strings sound good.
Enough talk lets move on to what I practised today. First up I went through some shared finger chord changes, using quarter note strumming (D D D D) and where possible strum one or strum two.
Am to C
D to G
G to Em
Em to C
G to Em to C (woohoo advanced!)
Enough of these difficult chord changes here is an easy one.
Em to Dadd6add9
Do you know that one? Yep I just butchered Horse With No Name.

So you’re learning to play the guitar? It’s harder than it looks! I bought a six string about four years ago, been trying on and off since then to learn to play, but I’m not very good. I can (or could) play the G, B(I think), A and E cords and I could play Bad Moon Rising (don’t know if I still can) Just seems to be no time for me to practise.
Maybe I’ll get more time over the next months; actually, I think I might just play a few cords later today, you’ve inspired me!
Thanks!
By the way; sorry I didn’t reply to you comment a month ago, I’ve been away on holiday. I responded now, so if you like you can have a look:-)
